Charity - Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal & Cots for Tots
Why?; We wanted to give back to the community, and both of our children have been cared for at the Bristol Children’s Hospital.
Amount Raised; Our sponsorship of the event covered all of the event fees which meant that over £36,000 raised went directly to the charity
Event details; Over 400 fundraisers chose to walk one of two different routes, either 1.5km or 5km. Many of the fundraisers were children of all ages that have been cared for at the Bristol Children’s Hospital and/or St. Michael’s NICU. One patient, Noah, took part in the event 10 weeks after open heart surgery at Bristol Children’s Hospital!
There were some sculptures from previous Gromit Unleashed events, to mark the end of the Gromit Unleashed 3 trail, and also a visit from the Wallace & Gromit Moon Rocket hot air balloon.
All participants received a medal after crossing the finish line, and there were multiple activities at the event pre and post the walk.
Our stand; We wanted to ensure that the children had some fun activities to engage with around our stand, and what child doesn’t enjoy sand play?! We had two large sand play stations with a mix of accessories including a child friendly plasterer trowel, a brick mould, and diggers for use in the sand. We also had foam building blocks, and we provided each child with a yellow ‘hard hat’ with construction related stickers to decorate their own hats with. We also had a ‘Guess the Nails in the Jar’ competition for the adults, and our winner, Lee Mills, received a £50 gift card.
This was a fantastic event, celebrating the progress of lots of children who have been cared for in these facilities, and raising money for these vital services.
